Seized drugs worth Rs 3.49 cr destroyed by police

DHUBRI: Drugs worth Rs. 3.49 crore seized by police last year from different places of Dhubri district in the month of October, 2022, was destroyed by Dhubri district administration at Rangamati in front of Home Guard Training Centre under Gauripur Police Station of the district on Monday. Total seizure made are : 24.31 gram heroin, 89.29 gram brown sugar, 1173 kg ganja, 35,171 sleeping tablets and capsules and 39,583 cough syrup bottles worth Rs. 3.49 crore.

Official source said that all together 56 cases were registered in the police stations across the district. Among the police stations, Chapor police station topped with 23 cases followed by 15 cases in Gauripur police station, 7 in Golokganj, 5 in Bilasipara, 3 in Dhubri. Drugs were destroyed in presence of Dhubri Superintendent of Police, Nabin Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pranjal Das and officials from Excise Department and Bongaigaon Pollution Control Board.
