Kokrajhar: Pramila Rani, a senior leader of the Bodoland People's Front (BPF), has called out the Assam police for killing two militants who were suspected to be a part of the newly floated outfit United Liberation of Bodoland (ULB). The two militants were gunned down by the police in an encounter. Pramila Rani has called this incident a case of 'pre-planned murder'.

The BPF leader pointed out that bringing the militants out of police custody and then killing them in an encounter is against the law.

She further stated that killing was an act "against humanity" as the militants were killed after being taken out of police custody while no proper investigation was done.

In addition, it was announced by the United Liberation of Bodoland that the two militants were not linked to their organisation and the BTR government and the police were accountable for their deaths.

Pramila Rani said, "The government carried out such merciless steps against innocent lives earlier as well. They have carried out such mindless attacks once again, and I condemn it."

The two militants were killed in a police encounter on September 18 by the Assam police at the Ultapani reserve forest area in the district of Kokhrajhar. The two deceased have been identified as Jongshar Mushahary and Janak Brahma.

Jongshar's family claimed that he was a former member of the NDFB but was not linked with any other organization in the region.

Pramila Rani has requested the Assam government to take action against the police personnel involved in this incident.
