DOOMDOOMA: Kamala Sarmah, wife of late Mahendra Sarmah, passed away at her home at Zakir Hussain road on Friday due to old age. She was a pious lady and was well connected with Doomdooma Namghar and Doomdooma Pujaghar. Before coming to Doomdooma, they lived in Dhoedam T.E. (Pabhajan Section) by virtue of husband Late Mahendra Sharma being an employee there and became well settled at Doomdooma after his superannuation. She was 89 and is survived by five sons including Apurba Sarmah, Branch Manager, Punjab National Bank (PNB) and four daughters. Her death was widely mourned by various organisations.
