DIBRUGARH: Former president of Dibrugarh Journalists Association (DDJA), Samillita Sangbadik Mancha, Duliajan secretary of Purbanchal Tai XahityaXabha, Duliajan Anchalik Samitee and senior journalist of Duliajan, Pradip Kumar Gogoi passed away on Friday at a local nursing home here. He was 53.
Pradip Kumar Gogoi is survived by a son and a daughter, besides his wife, other family members, colleagues and admirers.
Gogoi started his career as a TV reporter and had successfully served as a reporter from Duliajan for many satellite news channels. Gogoi was the first journalist of the country to have the opportunity to interview the self-styled chief of the ULFA, PareshBaruah at one of the base camps of the banned organization.
Gogoi's death was condoled by DuliajanSangbadik Mancha, Duliajan Press Club, Dibrugarh Press Club, DDJA, Gorkha Students' Union, Tai Ahom Students' Union and several socio-cultural organizations of the district. In a condolence message, Chief Minister SarbanandaSonowal said, "The sudden demise of a senior journalist, Pradip Kumar Gogoi is a great loss to our media as well as social life." He condoled the death and conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to bereaved family.
