Altogether seven HIV positive cases have been detected in Barkhetri, Nalbari under Mukalmua BPHC. The cases were found positive in the primary tests, stated hospital authority. Sources added that the cases were detected as part of the AIDS projects being carried out by two private organizations — Pancharatna and Barnibari Yuvak Sangha.
The patients are being kept isolated at home. They will be sent to GMCH (Gauhati Medical College & Hospital) soon. All the cases fall under IDU (Injecting Drugs User). This was informerd to the media here on Wednesday by Dr Chakradhar Barman, Superintendent (in charge) of the Mukalmua BPHC.
