Several Landslides Hit Road, Rail Transport In Assam's Dima Hasao

The district reported multiple landslides in the last few days as a result of the heavy rain affecting the smooth functioning of rail routes between Maibang and Mahur.

Guwahati: Numerous landslides occurring at different places in the hilly portions of Assam's Dima Hasao district affected road transport and train services, an official said on Thursday.

Reportedly, the district reported multiple landslides in the last few days as a result of the heavy rain affecting the smooth functioning of rail routes between Maibang and Mahur.

As a result of this, several trains were also delayed. Meanwhile, the repair works have been initiated.

According to an ANI report, the Station Master of New Haflong Railway Station, Babulal Badak said that there was a report of a landslide on the route between the towns of Maibong and Mahur.

"We had stopped passenger train at Maibong station. Our teams are working to restore the damaged track. Several trains are running slowly due to the landslide," a railway official was quoted as saying by ANI.

Reportedly, the National Highway route between Haflong and Silchar area has been disconnected as the water level rose on the highway near Kapurcherra in the hill district.

Apart from this, the Haflong-Lanka road has also been affected and cut off due to heavy landslides along the routes.\
