HAILAKANDI: For violating COVID-19 protocols, the Hailakandi Municipal Board authorities have closed several shops on Tuesday. Following reports from municipal board staff that several shops grossly violated the COVID-19 guidelines, the authorities shut down the shops for three days with immediate effect.
In an order issued to this effect, Executive Officer of the municipal board, Tridip Roy stated that the owners would not be allowed to operate their shops for three consecutive days under any circumstances for not adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines. The order further stated that any violation would be punishable under 51(b) of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and under Sections 188 and 270 of IPC. The shops that have been shut down by the authorities are Jan Aushadi Kendra, Basur Paan, Assam Optical, Biju Paul, all situated at Bata Chowrangee Road, Sujit Kr.Paul, Royal Footwear and Hindustan Marketing located at NS Road.
