DONKAMUKAM: West Karbi Anglong is reeling under flood for the second time due to surge in Kopili and Langpi rivers following incessant rain for the past 3-4 days.

Besides torrential rain in Dima Hasao, NEEPCO in Umrongso released excess water, thereby creating problems for people living in the downstream area. Roads and houses were submerged in water, forcing people to move to safer places.

The affected villages in West Karbi Anglong are Taradubi, Hatimura, Gondabil, Namtaradubi, Kollongamukh, Mugasong, Tumpreng, Kollongamukh, Bithung Sapori, Boithalangso and Hongkram of total 41 village areas. People have taken refuge in the embankment.

Since the last 36 hours, the Hojai Tumpreng road remains disconnected due to overflowing of water on the road at Komorakatta in Hojai district. However, the worst affected area is Kampur under Nagaon district where the Kopili and Langpi rivers meet.
