SEWA distributes meals to COVID-infected families in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: Socio-Educational Welfare Association (SEWA) is implementing COVID Emergency Response Programme in Assam, supported by Give2Asia. Due to the severe impact of the COVID pandemic, it has pushed the poor and marginalized populations into extreme poverty.

SEWA COVID Emergency Response Programme addresses urgently needed support for pandemic-impacted families, including for economic recovery, pandemic response and sustainable development. Under this initiative, SEWA has distributed 4,000 packets of cooked meals to the patients, attendants and relatives at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH). Under the economic recovery programme, multi-purpose financial assistance of Rs 3,000 will be distributed to 80 poor COVID-infected families of Dibrugarh urban on August 30 on the occasion of the 88th birth anniversary of Shanti Gogoi, the founder of SEWA. The response will also cover 80 poor families with food and nutrition support.
