Shilghariya of river Jia Bharali attracts tourists in Jamugurihat

JAMUGURIHAT: The spectacular view of the mighty river Jia Bharali attracts tourists and visitors from far and wide. Presently, the newly-constructed road on the eastern bank of the river provides ample scope of having the scenic beauty of the mighty river besides enjoying the splashing of river dolphins and silent dives of Shilghariya (Labeo dyochilus) fishes. The Shilghariya, a rare species of fish is found only in Jia Bharali river. The delicious breed of fish comes out only during gloomy days. It lives in the spaces of rocks. Thousands of visitors throng Jia Bharali to have the view during gloomy days.

Presently, a new road has been constructed on the eastern bank of the river. People visit this road to have morning walks, enjoy the river side beauty and to have a distant view of Bharali Poriya Kanyaka Bahumukhi Krishi Pam. Tourists arrive to enjoy the game of domestic fishes and Shilghariya fish in the river. Hundreds of tourists are now flocking to the banks of the river to enjoy the natural scenery of the river and fresh air as well. Talking to this correspondent, Pankaj Hazarika, a national award winning farmer said, "Jamugurihat is full of places of tourist attraction. We have to work on it. The new foot road and Kanyaka Bahumukhi Krishi Pam added new elements in this regard." The road connecting with NH 15 near Towbhanga is approximately 3 kms long.
