Silk rearing equipment distributed among Eri farmers in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: Eri silk rearing equipment were formally distributed by the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia to 71 Eri farmers of Hapjan and Kakopathar blocks of Tinsukia district under Rastriya Krishi Vikash Yojana (RKVY) 2018-2019, in a programme held at the office of Assistant Director, Department of Sericulture on Wednesday.

The DC of Tinsukia, Swapneel Paul, while interacting with the farmers, said that the silk farmers of the district can increase their silk production many times through the equipment and necessary training received from the sericulture department. He advised the farmers to contact the sericulture department if they faced any difficulties. The DC urged the sericulture department to impart proper training to silk farmers in the district. The event was facilitated by the assistant director, Chumbit Konwar and was attended by staff and employees of the department.
