Single Vaccinated Persons Allowed as Pillion Rider on Two Wheelers, Assam Govt Issues Revised SOP

GUWAHATI: As the Covid-19 situation showed improvement, the Assam government on Wednesday has issued a fresh directive saying that pillion riding on motorcycles shall be allowed with at least single vaccinated persons and compulsory wearing of mask.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) on Wednesday issued the revised and consolidated directive for both rural and urban areas.

"Pillion riding on motorcycles shall be allowed with at least single vaccinated persons and compulsory wearing of mask", the directive informed.

On further transportation, it was mentioned that Intra-district transport with 100% seating capacity shall be allowed for passengers having at least single dose of vaccine.

However, no standing passenger shall be allowed or else heavy fine will be imposed and driving license of drivers/registration of vehicles carrying standing passengers will be cancelled.

Meanwhile, the health minister of the state Keshab Mahanta has informed that passengers with double vaccination arriving in Assam trough railway and Air services will be exempted from the mandatory Covid-19 screening before entering in the state.

He informed that fully vaccination passengers have to provide their vaccination certificate prior to travel.

However, passengers who will be found with one dose of the vaccination, have to undergo an RT-PCR test at the airport/railway station.

The health minister also informed that they have reduced the price of RT-PCR from Rs 500 to Rs 250.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has issued a new set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to contain the spread of Covid in the state. Further, final year classes from Class 12 onwards from Monday with 30 students in each class. Class 12 students below 18 yrs can attend classes. The state government has allowed the reopening of educational institutions from September 1, for Class 12 to postgraduate-level students, in areas outside containment zones. However, to attend physical classes, students must be vaccinated against COVID-19, at least with the first dose.
