Sipajhar Clash: 11 Civilian Including Minor Injured, 3 Police Personnel Undergoing Treatment at GMCH

As per reports, one woman protestor, identified as Rezia Khatoon who received bullet injury during the clash is also undergoing treatment at the GMCH.

GUWAHATI: 11 injured persons including 3 police personnel who received an injury during the violent clash between the police and protesters at Garukhuti, Sipajhar on Thursday are undergoing treatment at the Guwahati Medical College& Hospital (GMCH).

As per reports, one woman protestor, identified as Rezia Khatoon who received bullet injury during the clash is also undergoing treatment at the GMCH. Among the injured police personnel who are undergoing treatment at the GMCH, one is the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). The DSP, Amrit Ray Choudhury is undergoing treatment at a paying cabin of the GMCH.

The other police personnel are Munir Ahmed and Apurba Ronghang. According to the GMCH authorities, all the injured receiving treatment in the hospital are out of danger. The injured also include a 13-year girl.

Meanwhile, Assam Minority Students' Union (AAMSU) called a 12-hour long Darang district bandh in protest against the killing of two protesters in Garukhuti, Sipajhar on Thursday.

During a massive eviction drive by the district administration against the government land encroachers, thousands of local people staged protests in the area. While the administration appealed to the protesters to leave the place, some of them tried to attack the police turning the protest violent.
