Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner appeals to accelerate pace of paddy procurement

SIVASAGAR: In order to speed up the ongoing paddy procurement (2nd crop) process in Sivasagar district, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner of the district Aditya Vikram Yadav at the Sukafa Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office recently.

The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad Aswini Doley, Additional Deputy Commissioner Karmadev Brahma, District Agriculture Officer, DIPRO, District Agriculture Information Officer, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer, Agriculture Development Officer, Director of Paddy Procurement Centre, officers of Village Panchayats and officials of Cooperative Societies.

During the meeting the Deputy Commissioner appealed all to cooperate in the paddy procurement process and achieve the target set for the district. On September 14, the Deputy Commissioner visited the Demow Paddy Procurement Centre and visited the Morabazar Paddy Procurement Centre on September 15. An awareness meeting was held on September 16 at the office of the Block Development Officer of Demow and Gaurisagar on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner. The meeting was attended by block development officers, sub-divisional agriculture officers, agriculture development officers, village panchayat officials, agricultural sakhi, paddy producers and progressive farmers.

A total of three paddy procurement centres are currently operational at Demow, Morabazar and Amguri in the district.
