Six nabbed for extorting money in Dhubri

DHUBRI: Six persons were allegedly involved in extorting money from each trucker carrying rice from the godown of Food Corporation of India (FCI) located in ward no 16 of Dhubri town on Monday. After having received the complaint about illegal collection of money from the truckers, Dhubri police swung into action and apprehended six persons.

They have been identified as Sanjib Kr. Das (55), Lakman Akond (71), Jahidul Rahman (48), Raj Ahmed (55),Anowar Akond (40) and Nur Mahammad (42). All the accused are the residents of Dhubri town and they have been allegedly running the racket of extortion from the truckers for a long time, a police source informed.
