TEZPUR: A three-day skill development training programme was organized at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Sonitpur at Napam for skill development of Agnigarh FPC and Nameri FPC under CBBO, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. Angana Sarmah, Head (I/C) of KVK, Sonitpur, welcomed the participants and resource persons invited for the training.
Discussions were held on improved farming practices of litchi and maize cultivation to enhance the efficiency of the farmer groups as well as marketing, processing and value addition of the produce. Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur Deba Kumar Mishra was present at the valedictory function of the event and interacted with the FPC members. District Circle Officer Pankaj Bora, District Agriculture Officer Dilip Gayan, Assistant Agriculture Officer Pranjal Sharma, DDM Narbad Pritam Nath, PIU Kamrup CEO Dr Pramod Chandra Deka and Coordinator Dr Pallab Sharma also interacted with the farmers during various sessions. Certificates were given to 50 farmers of the two FPCs who participated in the training. District Commissioner Dev Kumar Mishra planted saplings of Mango variety Alphonso for the conservation and protection of the environment.
