A CORRESPONDENT
BISWANATH CHARIALI: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Assam Regional Office has been implementing one Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP) in Sakomatha Development Block in Biswanath district since 2019-20 in association with the project implementing agency CADAT, a local NGO. The project aims for holistic development of around two hundred tribal families across seven villages in the area. Several skill development training programmes on weaving, mushroom cultivation, incense stick making, bamboo handicrafts etc. have also been implemented by NABARD in the areas for the socio-economic development of the local residents.
Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath, Munindra Nath Ngatey visited two such villages developed under ITDP of NABARD along with DDM of NABARD, recently. He also visited the under construction weaving centre which is being developed by the beneficiaries of the weaving training programme of NABARD. The Deputy Commissioner, Ngatey appreciated the initiatives taken by NABARD for holistic development of the area.
