LAKHIMPUR: A slow loris was recovered in Lakhimpur on Wednesday. The slow loris, which is locally known as lajuki bandar, is under the threat of extinction in Assam. The slow loris was seen in the grove of a person named Sitaram Sonowal, resident of Rampur-Rajgarh under Naoboicha Development Block of the district. Then the matter was informed to environmental activist Dr. Prabal Kumar Saikia, Chief Scientist of Regional Agricultural Research Station, North Lakhimpur. He informed the matter to Lakhimpur Forest Division after which the slow loris was safely recovered by a team of officials from Harmoti Range Office of the Forest Department. Later, the slow loris was released in Ranga Reserve Forest.
