A gang of thieves decamped with smartphones worth over Rs 20 lakhs by breaking open a shop at Bijoynagar

PALASBARI: A gang of thieves decamped with smartphones worth over Rs 20 lakhs by breaking open a shop at Bijoynagar, the commercial hub of South Kamrup under Bijoynagar Police outpost on Thursday night. According to the owner of the store, the thieves entered the GF Radio store by cutting the roof and ceilings of the shop. The shop owner, Sukleshwar Choudhury, who is a resident of Tiniali in Palasbari LAC said, they came to know about the burglary at about 10 am when they opened the store.

A scrutiny of the footage acquired from the G.F Radio Store CCTV camera showed a man in a t-shirt entering the store and decamped with the smartphones. In this regard, a case was registered against the accused on the basis of CCTV footage and the police started a search operation to nab the accused. Such kind of robbery incidents is reported on a daily basis from Bjjoynagar which has caused a massive loss to the owners.
