Smuggled IMFL seized; 3 held by Mangaldai Police

MANGALDAI: A team of Mangaldai Police led by Officer in Charge Inspector Mukut Kakati on Tuesday seized a total of 288 bottles of smuggled Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from a Maruti Alto car bearing registration number AS 01 AR 8270 at Dighirpar Chowk under Mangaldai Police Station and recovered the bottles of liquors concealed in eight cartons. Police also arrested three persons namely Kanai Malakar, Mitu Sarkar and Arjun Nath of Kalaigaon in Udalguri district and handed the trio accused persons over to the Excise department at Mangaldai and the Excise department has forwarded them to judicial custody after their production before the judicial court. Significantly, the trio accused have confessed that they were selling the seized liquor bottles from a bar in the rural areas of Darrang district thereby violating the relevant rule.
