Social worker Dr Kirti Ranan Dey passes away in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: Dr Kirti Ranan Dey, a social worker, philanthropist, rotarian, traveller, versatile personality and proprietor of Dey's Nursing Clinic Tinsukia (Bhola Medical) passed away due to post-COVID complicacies on Sunday night. As a physician in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr Dey rendered remarkable services to the downtrodden for several decades. He was 80. His health deteriorated after he was affected by the first wave of COVID.

He was also a qualified counsellor for advanced family planning, adolescent science, and consumer protection on medical negligence. He served as a member of the District Consumer Redressal Forum for five years and was associated with several educational institutions, socio-cultural organisations, children's homes and orphanages and his own professional bodies like IMA. His death was deeply mourned by several organisations and institutions of Tinsukia district. His funeral procession held on Monday was attended by large people and his last rites were performed at a local crematorium.
