TEZPUR: Sonitpur District Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra issued several directives and have taken measures to ensure peace and order during the upcoming Durga Puja in Sonitpur district. Accordingly, the puja organizing committees should maintain cleanliness in the puja mandaps and display environment-friendly posters and banners carrying social messages on “Cleanliness”, “Health and Hygiene” and “Road Safety”. They requested strict compliance.
According to these guidelines, the statues must be made of natural materials and traditional clay, no music management can be used before 8:00 am and after 10:00 pm, CCTV cameras will be installed inside the puja mandaps and each puja committee will be required to pay Rs 1,200 for the immersion arrangements.
The organizing committees are required to apply for NOC from the Superintendent of Police, Sonitpur online through https://polcitizen.assamgov. inportal for permission to hold the puja and with this NOC. They must submit to the District Commissioner’s Office by October, 2023 , the electricity department can connect electricity to the puja mandaps only after seeing the permission letter received from the District Commissioner’s Office.
The officers in charge of the police stations are required to hold meetings with all the puja committees and concerned SDO of their respective police station areas and submit the minutes of the meetings to the District Commissioner’s office by October 12.
