Sonitpur district administration conducted eviction drive under Borsola constituency

On Wednesday, Sonitpur district administration conducted an eviction drive on government land at Dhirai Majuli Gaon and Bhora Singari Gaon under Borsola constituency near Dhekiajuli.

DHEKIAJULI: On Wednesday, Sonitpur district administration conducted an eviction drive on government land at Dhirai Majuli Gaon and Bhora Singari Gaon under Borsola constituency near Dhekiajuli.

More than 64 families who had occupied the government land in those areas were completely evicted. Six JCBs were used for evicting the people. Earlier on August 5, a group of people in the villages had attacked a Bajrang Dal team which was celebrating the bhoomi pujan of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. Later, various organizations demanded that the illegal encroachers of government land from those particular villages should be evicted.

Dhekiajuli Revenue Circle Officer Kamaljyoti Borah told media persons that they had evicted the families which had been occupying government land. He said that families which had myadi patta land had not been evicted. Defending the Sonitpur district administration's eviction drive, the Circle Officer clarified that his administration had earlier repeatedly requested the evicted families to vacate the land but they did not respond to the appeal. No untoward incident took place during the eviction drive on Wednesday.
