Sonitpur district administration holds meeting with Durga Puja committees

TEZPUR: Sonitpur district administration on Friday held a meeting with presidents and secretaries of various Puja Committees from across the district and discussed issues related to the upcoming Durga Puja celebration.

The committee members were asked to put forth their suggestions and views regarding the celebrations keeping in view the COVID-19 situation. Almost all the participants agreed to organize this year's Puja on a small scale and to do away with cultural programmes and other such activities that lead to gathering of people.

DDC F Alam, who chaired the meeting, asked all committee members to seek prior permission and maintain all social distancing and hygiene protocols while organizing the Puja. Additional SP Numal Mahatta asked the committee members to deploy volunteers, make arrangements for proper lighting, keep fire-fighting equipment at the ready, and arrange for smaller pandals so as to avoid large crowds.

Several related issues were also discussed in the meeting. ADCs Rohan Jha and Parag Kakaty, Circle Officers, heads of various government departments were also present in the meeting.
