Sonitpur KVK organizes 'Kisan Bhagidari Prathmikta Hamari' programme

TEZPUR: The programme 'Kisan Bhagidari Prathmikta Hamari' was organized with full enthusiasm at KVK, Sonitpur on Tuesday. Dr Arifa Momtaz Begum, (i/c) Head, KVK, Sonitpur welcomed all the dignitaries to the farmers' fair-cum-exhibition. In her welcome speech she briefly described the objective of the programme.

Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur, Debo Kr. Mishra inaugurated the farmers' fair-cum-exhibition by lighting the lamp along with Dr Ranen Barman, Dean, Biswanath College of Agriculture. The programme was started with the webcasting of 'Kisan Bhagidari Prathmikta Hamari – Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav'. After the webcasting, a group song was performed by the RAWEP students stationed at KVK, Sonitpur. Technical bulletins on scientific cultivation of Toria, MAT Nursery and farm mechanization were also inaugurated in the event.

Technical session on scientific cultivation of oilseeds, millets, biofortified crops was conducted where Dr Nirmal Majumdar, Professor, BNCA acted as a resource person. There was also a farmer's scientist interaction session in the event where Dr. Digambar Sharma, Professor, BNCA, District Veterinary Officer, Sonitpur, Dr. Binoy Barman, District Fishery Development Officer Abu Sufian, and Dr. Meghali Kalita acted as resource persons. Dipali Mondal, a progressive farm woman, talked about preparation of Jeevamrit and compost tea. Three innovative farmers Dipak Das, Pronoti Bora and Popy Marak were felicitated for their contribution in the agriculture and allied sectors. The PATKAI cultural group from Dhekiajuli showcased different folk dances of all the tribes of Assam.
