Sonitpur police arrested four alleged drug peddlers with suspected contraband substances in Sonitpur district on June 3

Tezpur: Sonitpur police arrested four alleged drug peddlers with suspected contraband substances in Sonitpur district on June 3. Acting on a tip-off, in a special drive against narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, a team of Sonitpur police under the supervision of Sushanta Biswa Sarma, Superintendent of Police, and Additional SP, (Headquarters) Madhurima Das and four peddlers were apprehended near the Kaliabhomora bridge, Chariduwar area and Gudamghat area in Sonitpur district. The police team recovered a total of 90 small plastic containers of suspected brown sugar. Police also seized a bike bearing registration number AS12 T 7212 and a vehicle bearing registration number AS 01 AP 1301 from their possession.

They have been identified as Dildar Hussain (22), resident of Chotai Sapori, Habibur Rahman (32), resident of Jurgarh, Ikbal Hussain, resident of Gudamghat under Tezpur Sadar Police Station and Kalido Pertin, resident of Siang district in Arunachal Pradesh. A case has been registered against them under Section 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
