JAMUGURIHAT: Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika inaugurated a plantation drive at Nandikeshar, Jamugurihat on Sunday organized by Jagaran. Jagaran Youth Club, a noted eco-friendly club of 21 energetic and social-minded members of Jamugurihat, has carried out many activities to protect the ecology and the environment, including plantation drives and awareness camps. The Youth Club has decided to plant saplings beside the village roads under Jamugurihat once in a week.

The Jagaran Youth Club has taken up the initiative to plant trees on both sides of the 2 km-long Nandikeshar Road which connects to the historic Nandikeshar Temple. In this connection, an awareness meeting was held here with SailenBorkataki, the president of the Youth Club, in the chair. MLA Padma Hazarika appealed to people to follow the path of Jagaran Youth Club towards preservation and maintaining ecological balance. Addressing a gathering here, he praised the activities carried out by the club and promised to help it in the days to come. The meeting was also attended by many dignitaries of greater Jamugurihat area.
