Special awareness campaign for new voters organized in Chirang district

With a view to create awareness among the young people, citizens who have attained 18 years of age as of January 1, 2022

KOKRAJHAR: With a view to create awareness among the young people, citizens who have attained 18 years of age as of January 1, 2022, the Chirang election district has taken various steps for inclusion of their names in the voter list of 31-Sidli (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC).

In view of this, it has organized a press meet on Friday and informed that there would be a special campaign at Basugaon College and Bengtal College along with a flash mob by Nehru Yuva Kendra at Basugaon Bazar on November 13 to spread awareness among the general public with special emphasis on young voters.

As such, it has also informed that all the Booth Level Officers (BLO) of 31- Sidli (ST) LAC would conduct voters registration campaign in order to assist the new voters to enrol their names in the electoral rolls through online mode www.nvsp and also through Voter Helpline Mobile App on November 14 followed by Run for Unity from Deputy Commissioner's office to Silpota Bazar on November 21 and voters registration programme on November 27.

Apart from that a rigorous miking to sensitize the new voters under 31-Sidli (ST) LAC would be carried out by them. Addressing the media, the Deputy Commissioner, Chirang and District Election Officer, 31-Sidli (ST) LAC Narendra Kumar Shah said, "The main objective of this special awareness campaign is to create awareness among the new generation about the inclusion of names in the electoral rolls and the creation of a flawless voter list."

He also appealed to the citizens who would have attained 18 years of age as on January 1, 2022 to get their names included in the electoral rolls. As per the schedule of the Election Commission of India, the draft electoral rolls will be available for scrutiny from November 1 to 30, 2021. The period for filing claims and objections is between November 1 to November 30 and disposal of claims and objections will be done before December 20. The final electoral rolls will be published on January 5, 2022.
