Special COVID drive organized in Sonitpur tea estates

TEZPUR: In view of the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the tea gardens of Sonitpur District, Medical Inspector of Plantations Tezpur, Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar with the help of district administration organized an awareness and sanitization programme in Tezpore and Gogra Tea estate and Rupajuli TE.

Attending the programme, Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur Bhupesh Chandra Das stressed the need to create utmost awareness activities regarding COVID appropriate behaviour. He asked to ensure that physical distance was strictly maintained, that quarantine and sanitization process was monitored besides, ensuring that all the tea garden workers wear masks while doing their duties in the tea gardens. He also urged all the Line Chowkidar, and members of the workers' union to take initiatives to conduct vaccination drives and RAT tests to contain the spread of the virus. Dr Lahkar also explained the details about government help to treat COVID patient of the tea garden areas. Dr Lahkar directed the management to increase the number of daily RAT tests and to follow the recent SOP issued for management of the COVID-19 pandemic in tea estates properly. He also discussed the vaccination process, availability of medical infrastructure, oxygen and COVID-19 testing facilities.
