Silchar: Strong will, self-confidence and determination can help a man, even physically challenged, to face the hardest of challenges and overcome it to reach the desired goal. Thangaraj is an embodiment of it. He is on a mission to spread the messages of Swami Vivekananda across the country to achieve the goal of ‘Ek Bharat, Bijoyee Bharat’. Starting all the way from Kanyakumari on a scooty and traversing through 22 states, he came to the border town of Karimganj last weekend. He was extended warm hospitality by social and cultural organizations as well individuals.
In response to the openhearted reception, Thangaraj expressed his deepest sense of gratitude to the people of Karimganj and said ‘my only goal is to inspire the young generation with the ideals of Vivekananda and motivate them to serve the society and the nation for the welfare of humanity.’ His sojourn is timed with the golden jubilee year of Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Kanyakumari. He has been connected the Memorial from his very young age.
A student of Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya, he is an engineer with diploma in electronics and communication. He left behind all worldly cares and concerns to be with Vivekananda Rock Memorial. On the inaugural day of his cross country mission were present well known personalities of the Memorial who included Bhanudas Thakre, Hanumanta Rao, Sree Anandasree, Raghunath Nayar among others who profusely blessed him and wished him success. Till now, he has covered 18500 km of the targeted 18000 km on his tour.
His richest experiences have been of very deep affections and kind behaviour from people all the way from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, Punjab, Gujrat, and Arunachal Pradesh. Karimganj Deputy Commissioner, M P Ambamuthan, MLA Bijoy Malakar, and ZP president Ashis Nath appreciated his noble adventure. He described himself as an ‘ambassador of peace’ and said only the ideals and principles of Vivekananda can unite the country and make it strong. His mission on scooty would conclude at Kanyakumari on December 20.
