LAKHIMPUR: The three-daylong annual conference of the Dhakuakhana district unit of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha concluded with grand success on Monday.
The event was hosted by Sankar-Madhav Anchalik Sakha of the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha under the Subansiri area of Paschim Dhakuakhana at Nabin Chandra Bhorali Samanway Kshetra from January 8. On the concluding day, a 'Bhagawat Shobhayatra' (Bhagawat Procession) was taken out carrying the Bhagwat Purana, the highly revered holy scripture of Hindu religion, with the participation of hundreds of devotees and various cultural groups. In addition to Nam-prasanga, bhaona and other Sankardev created culture, folk culture of almost all the indigenous communities of Assam were showcased in the procession manifesting the ideology of 'Unity in Diversity'. The procession covered almost 8km distance in its round.
The open session of the event commenced by Boloram Dutta, the president of the Dhakuakhana district unit of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, in the chair. Attending the event, Srimanta Sankardev Sangha Padadhikar Kamala Kanta Gogoi delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the true spiritual awareness and ideology of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev. On the other hand, Srimanta Sankardev Sangha Sahitya Sakha president Mrinal Kumar Baruah graced the occasion as appointed speaker who delivered a lecture on how Srimanta Sankardev Sangha had spearheaded a spiritual, intellectual revolution in the State. Dhakuakhana district unit Saran Sadasya Thaneswar Borah also delivered a lecture in the programme, wherein Srimanta Sankardev Sangha former Mool Sadasya Satish Kumar Baruah, Deva Kumar Gogoi, Sankar-Madhav Anchalik Sakha adviser Tirtha Nath Chutia, Dhakuakhana district members Tankeswar Gohain, Lakhya Gogoi were present.
