Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, Lakhimpur unit celebrates platinum jubilee

LAKHIMPUR: The Undivided Lakhimpur District Committee of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha (Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, Abibhakta Lakhimpur Zila Sakha) will celebrate the Maha Rajat Jayanti (Platinum Jubilee-2021—22) of the organization from March 7.

This was declared by the dignitaries of the Lakhimpur District Committee and Bihpuriya-Narayanpur District Committee, which constitute the Undivided Lakhimpur District Committee of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, in a press meet convened at North Lakhimpur Press Club on Thursday. Notably, the Undivided Lakhimpur District Committee of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha came into being in 1947 with only four Prathamik Sakhas (grassroots branches) under Srimanta Sankardev Sangha of Assam which was constituted in 1930 following the ideology of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev.

Addressing the media persons, Lakhimpur District Committee Srimanta Sankardev Sangha president Chakradhar Sonowal said that the inaugural function of the year-long platinum jubilee festival would be held at Shri Shri Madhavdev Aru Ghagari Majhi Kshetra, set up at Bodhakora Anchalik Ranga Mancha under Boginadi area. The main agenda of the event will start with the unfurling of the dharma dhwaja by the district committee president and it will be followed by nam prasanga.

The Dharmalosana Sabha-cum-open session of the event will be chaired by Kamalakanta Gogoi, the Padadhikar of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha. Former Padadhikar Bhabendra Nath Deka will be present as chief guest while chief secretary Babul Borah will grace the occasion as appointed speaker. On the other hand, State Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Naba Kumar Doley will be present as invited guest while a galaxy of prominent figures will take part in the programme as guests of honour.

In order to organize the year-long programmes of the festival, an organizing committee was formed with Nipen Saikia as president and Indra Tayegam as secretary. In the meantime, the organizing committee has almost completed the arrangements for holding the inaugural programme of the festival on March 7. Addressing the press meet, Nipen Saikia said that a cultural congregation, as second event of the festival, would be held on May 26 at Ujiror Tol, the birth place of Shri Shri Madhavdev, located at Rangajan under Narayanpur area. It will be followed by a national-level seminar and symposium on the tremendous contribution of Srimanta Sankardev, to be held at Madhavdev University in the month of June.

In the event, a galaxy of national-level research scholars on Srimanta Sankardev will take part. The fourth event of the festival, the Aai Matri Samaroh will be held on October 2 at Laluk. In January next year, the Sewabahini Samaroh and the concluding programme of the festival will be organized with a three-day-long colourful agenda at Pahumora in association with Chintamoni Prathamik Sakha. The dignitaries of the both district committees of the organization and the organizing committee appealed to all to extend their co-operation towards successful conduct of the inaugural and year-long programmes.
