SSB seizes MRF tyres brought from Bhutan, two arrested

In a routine checking, the SSB deployed in Indo-Bhutan border seized a 407 mini truck loaded with MRF tyres coming from Bhutan side on Sunday morning at 8 am.

KOKRAJHAR: In a routine checking, the SSB deployed in Indo-Bhutan border seized a 407 mini truck loaded with MRF tyres coming from Bhutan side on Sunday morning at 8 am.

Sources from the SSB said the SSB team under the guidance of Sanjeev Kumar, DC of 6th Bn SSB, carried out routine checking at the check gate at Datgari near the Bhutan border on Sunday morning. Sources said one Tata 407 bearing number AS-01GC/7158 loaded with 14 MRF tyres (new) moving from Bhutan towards India were seized. Two persons- Dipak Sarkar (35) of Jogighopa, Bongaigaon and Hazarat Ali (51) of Baniapara of Barpeta were apprehended.

Sources also said that valid documents regarding the items were asked but they failed to produce any proper documentation of the items. The persons in the vehicle could not show the details of vehicle, driver’s license and driving licence. The seized Tata 407 (AS-01GC/7158) worth around Ts 11 lakh and loaded with 14 MRF tyres worth Rs 3,20,100, along with the two apprehended persons were handed over to Land Custom in Dadgiri.
