KOKRAJHAR: A State-level joint mock exercise by ASDMA and DDMA Kokrajhar on earthquake disaster was organized in Kokrajhar on Friday. NDRF, SDRF, Fire Services, CISF, Army, State Police, Radio Organization (APRO), EMS, PHE and representatives of ASDMA participated in the mock exercise to ensure effective response by all stakeholders, officials in case of an emergency.
The 1 st BN NDRF took active participation and assisted in planning and co-ordination at the initial stage. The NDRF rescuers during the exercise used various extrication methods like rope rescue, high rise rescue and victim stabilization after triage of victims following the disaster site safety plan.
On this occasion, RS Gill, Commandant 1 st Bn NDRF said, “These exercises ensure activation and prompt response of all stakeholders in a district and such frequent mock exercise also makes the district response system more effective and result oriented at the time of actual disaster. Mock exercise provides a suitable platform and sustainable mechanism for the State and Central authorities for synchronization and rapid employment of rescuers at the district/state level.
In the exercise, 1,200 volunteers, were involved and after the exercise, a debriefing session was done in which the role of NDRF was highly appreciated by a huge gathering of local public and civil administration
The exercise concluded with a note to organize more such exercises in the future so that the effective response during earthquake disaster could be carried out and save precious human lives.
