Goreswar: An elderly person, Katiram Boro (73) died during a storm on Thursday evening at Balahati village under Goreswar police station in Tamulpur district.
Sources said that the retired SSB jawan was sitting on the verandah during the dust storm when suddenly a branch of a tree fell down on his house. The elderly person suffered a heart attack. He was immediately rushed to Goreswar Hospital but the doctor declared him dead.
The storm lashed various parts of Goreswar area in the district damaging houses and uprooting trees here on Thursday. The storm also destroyed Rabi and horticultural crops in many places. Villages like Silkijhar, Hajalpara, Balahati, Ramcha, Balabari, Sarufulchaki, Barfukankhat, Singimari, Rampur, Kerpavitha, Bakulguri, Maharipara, Tengajhar, Naokata etc were affected by the storm under Goreswar revenue circle area.
