Storm lashes Lakhimpur district; power supply disrupted

The office of the North Lakhimpur Electrical Subdivision informed that the storm had damaged the electrical properties in an extensive area under the subdivision.

LAKHIMPUR: A strong hailstorm lashed all over the Lakhimpur district on Sunday, causing disruption in road communication, electricity supply and damaging individual and public properties.

The hailstorm hit North Lakhimpur subdivision around 2:30 pm and uprooted big trees and electric poles at several places. The storm blew away house roofs in several villages under the subdivision. The office of the North Lakhimpur Electrical Subdivision informed that the storm had damaged the electrical properties in an extensive area under the subdivision.

On the other hand, the hailstorm affected Dhakuakhana subdivision around 4:00 pm and uprooted big trees, fruit-bearing trees along with electrical poles. Uprooted big trees caused complete disruption in communication through the Mornoi-Bebejia-Gogamukh connecting road. The storm damaged hundreds of houses at several villages under Borshamukh, Bilmukh and Mornoi Gaon Panchayats of Dhakuakhana. However, no casualty was reported from anywhere in the district till filing of this report. At present, Lakhimpur district is reeling under darkness due to disruption in electricity supply.
