Stress laid on application of mother tongue in Matribhasa Aru Rajyabhasa Prayog Upasamiti meeting

LAKHIMPUR: A crucial meet of the Matribhasa Aru Rajyabhasa Prayog Upasamiti, the sub-committee for the application of the Assamese language under Lakhimpur District Xahitya Xabha (LDXX), was held on Tuesday regarding the official application of the mother tongue in the district. The initial meet of the sub-committee, being chaired by Sapon Kumar Dutta, was held at Swahid Bhavan, the office of the Lakhimpur district unit of All Assam Students’ Union.

Chief convener of the sub-committee, Indramoni Rajkumar explained the objectives of the meet. Axam Xahitya Xabha(AXX) vice-president Dr. Hemanta Kumar Baruah, LDXX secretary Biren Chandra Bordoloi, State member Dayananda Goswami, Lakhimpur AASU president-cum-convener of the sub-committee, Pulok Jyoti Borah, LDXX treasurer Guna Bhuyan and spokesman Prashanta Kumar Modak delivered speeches in the meeting forwarding effective suggestions with regard to application of the Assamese language in the administrative and commercial levels as well as other sectors in the district.

After detailed discussion, resolution was taken to observe a fortnight from March 16 to March 30 in the district to take steps towards ensuring the application of the State language. In this regard, decision was taken to render three phase activities during the fortnight for the same, such as strengthening the organizational base of the Axam Xahitya Xabha, distribution of leaflets and demand letters in the first phase, launching of enquiry, observation, review in the second phase, adoption of new steps based on the results of the activities of the second phase and convention of public meeting in the third phase.
