HAFLONG: Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Nazreen Ahmed chaired a meeting of the District-level Implementation Committee organized by the District Labour Welfare Office, Dima Hasao. The meeting was conducted at the Deputy Commissioner's conference hall on Thursday.
The Deputy Commissioner told the members present that the main objective of the meeting was to discuss about registration of the unorganized workers, domestic workers, construction workers, agricultural workers, migrant workers, platform workers, Anganwadi workers, Asha workers, mid-day meal workers etc. to ensure delivery of various social security schemes being implemented by the Central and State governments. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the line departments, representatives of the All Dima Hasao Labour Union of the district, Haflong Auto Association, Tin Kilo Assam Quarry Daily Wage workers' union.
District Labour Officer Prasanjit Talukdar spoke about the benefits given under e-Shram Portal according to eligibility such as, accidental death of Rs 2 lakh; more than Rs 1 lakh for partial disability; accident insurance coverage.
Discussion was also made as to how the number of registrations may be increased in Dima Hasao district. BDOs and Medical officers were mobilized to increase the number of registration in their respective areas and ASHA workers.
The District Labour Officer briefed about the benefits of those registered under the Assam Building and other Construction Workers' Welfare Board. The eligibility criteria for registration is between the age of 18 to 55 years of age which offers 14 benefits such as death benefit, funeral assistance, cash award for children who score well in their HSLC, AHM and HS, maternity benefit, general pension, advance for purchase or construction of house, disability institution, education institution, medical assistance, educational assistance, marriage assistance, family pension, health checkup and coverage under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana.
