Strict action against erring shopkeepers amid ongoing COVID pandemic

GOLAGHAT: Amidst this ongoing COVID pandemic, life of common people has become unstable. The Golaghat district administration has taken all the necessary steps to restore normalcy in the life of common people. Shopkeepers have been instructed to display price list of all necessary items in their respective shops. But still some shopkeepers are allegedly not following the orders of the administration and also violating COVID protocol.

The Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, Bibhash Chandra Modi on Wednesday ordered the officials of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department to take stern action against such shopkeepers and businessmen. All the wholesale as well as retail shops of grocery have to display price list in the shops. Shop owners and sales staff must wear masks while dealing with customers. Hand wash and sanitizer system must be set up in front of each shop. Legal action will be taken against shop owners violating these instructions.

Following the orders of the DC, the department concerned has made arrangements for display of essential commodities' price list in the market area in Golaghat town. Additional DC Lakhimi Dutta has been given the charge to take public complaints, make sudden visits to the shops and to monitor the situation.
