DEMOW: The activists of Demow Regional Students' Union staged a two hour sit-in in front of Demow Revenue Circle on Thursday demanding development in education, health service, sports and tourism sectors of Demow. Later, the Demow Regional Students' Union submitted a letter with their various demands to the Chief Minister through the Demow Circle Officer.

In the letter, the Demow Regional Students Union stated that under Demow Revenue Circle, the four mouzas of Thowra, Nitai, Panidehing and Bokota comprised a huge area. Even after so many years of Independence, this area was lagging behind in education, health, sports and other sectors. In the greater area of Demow Revenue Circle, there are no Science and Commerce streams higher educational institutions. There is no hospital with latest technology in Demow due to which people of Demow and its nearby areas are deprived of proper healthcare, said the students' body. The areas of Demow Revenue Circle have potential in tourism sector but no steps have been taken to tap this potential. The students' body demanded steps for the all-round development of Demow.
