BISWANATH CHARIALI: Several students' organisations on Wednesday staged a protest programme at Gohpur demanding early completion of repairing and construction of the National Highway 15 from Gohpur to Biswanath Chariali. The highway has almost collapsed in the name of four lane road construction and the condition has become very pathetic as the construction of about 57 km long road from Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur has been going on for six years.

Despite several petitions submitted earlier for road repairing and construction, it failed to evoke a response from the concerned authorities. Therefore, various students' organisations including ATTSA, AASU, Scheduled Caste Students' Association and others protested massively by burning the effigy of NHIDCL which is in the charge of road construction. At the end of the protest programme, a memorandum was also submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath through the SDO(C) of Gohpur.
