Lakhimpur: Students and Teachers of Bihpuria's Lakhimpur Polytechnic are protesting against the principal of the later over the gender discrimination and other issues.
The principal identified as Subhas Das and reportedly following the protest, the situation has remained tense.
The demonstrators alleged that the principal of Bihpuria's Lakhimpur Polytechnic was guilty of gender discrimination, financial irregularities, and unfair teacher pay cutbacks.
The female instructors, who were protesting said that the principal made inappropriate gestures and made gender-insensitive comments to them. They further stated that their monthly salary had been decreased by the principal-in-charge.
The students accused the principal-in-charge of misappropriating funds meant for infrastructure development.
Students and instructors have been waging a pen-down protest since Thursday, demanding that the principal-in-charge be fired and that their lower wages be reimbursed.
Reportedly, the Subhas Das, the main in-charge, rejected all of the allegations levelled against him.
According to Das, teachers' remuneration is decided by the amount of time they labor.
He further alleged that the students are mentally torturing him.
