SUCI (C) slams government for sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities

Lakhimpur: Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) has decried the sky-rocketing prices of petro-products like petrol, diesel, Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) and other essential commodities.

Regarding the issue, the members of the political party took to the streets with protest programme demanding the governments at the Centre and in the State to control the price hike. In support of their demand, the members of the party took out a protest rally in North Lakhimpur town from Sukulibhoriya to Nakari. During the rally, the protesters shouted multiple slogans and displayed placards to scrap the decision of increasing power tariff, to draw the pending electricity charges unpaid by various government department for long periods, to control the prices of petro-products, essential commodities etc.

Participating in the protest programme, SUCI (C) State Committee member, Projjal Deb slammed the Union and State governments regarding the issues.

"We have opposed the hike of the power tariff by 59 paise every unit to be effective from April 1. By this move, the government has attempted to impose more burden upon the poor section of the society. The same government has failed to draw the pending electricity charges unpaid by the government departments and to check corruption in the high-level electricity offices. In addition, the government is incapable of controlling the sky-rocketing prices of petro-products and essential commodities," Projjal Deb said, criticizing both governments.
