TINSUKIA : A SULFA extortionist was caught red-handed by Tinsukia police on Friday at Kakopathar when he came to collect money from a particular spot. According to police, Sanjay Baruah, a surrendered ULFA militant and presently engaged in petty business was directed by self-styled ULFA (I) Captain Prajit Asom alias Pilot Asom to collect Rs 15 lakh from a Kakopathar businessman. The police laid a trap and apprehended him. Police, however, told media that the extortion notice purportedly issued by ULFA (I) to the businessman was not in ULFA’s letterhead that aroused some suspicions.
