Swadhinata Mahanta conferred with Narendra Deva Memorial Award

TEZPUR: The Narendra Deva Shastri Memorial Award for contributions towards literature, culture, journalism and educational field respectively for the year 2020 was conferred on noted writer and litterateur, retired professor, Dr Swadhinata Mahanta at a special award giving function organised in connection with the 92nd birth anniversary of the noted Sanskrit scholar and veteran journalist Narendra Deva Shastri by the Sonitpur Press Club, Tezpur at Tezpur Xahitya Xabha Bhawan on Sunday.

The portrait of noted Sanskrit scholar was garlanded by wife of late Narendra Deva Shastri, Kanaklata Devi and participated by his daughter Himadri Sharma along with other dignitaries. It was followed by an open session which was presided over by Subhash Chandra Biswas, president of Sonitpur Press Club was graced by a host of noted dignitaries including the Chief Speaker of Narendra Deva Shastri Memorial Oration Programme and Former Director of Information and Public Relations Rajib Prakash Baruah, among others.

While the Former president of the Tezpur Xahitya Xabha, Professor Hemanta Kumar Baruah gave the welcome address wherein he spoke on the life of Narendra Deva Sastri and importance of the event and the contribution and dedication of the Sanskrit Pandit Narendra Deva Shastri and noted writer and litterateur Dr Swadhinata Mahanta towards the society.
