Gaurisagar: Swahid Peoli Phukan (SPP) College, one of the higher educational institutes in the greater Namti area on the outskirts of Amguri town in Sivasagar district successfully conducted energy audit that was slated from March 24-March 25.
On Thursday, an awareness programme on energy management and green initiative was held which was chaired and inaugurated by professor Tulakhi Sensuwa, president of the college governing body. The programme, which was attended by a large number of students and college faculty, saw the presence of Samar Jyoti Hazarika, Assistant Professor, Energy Engineering Department, NEHU, Shillong as the resource person.
Hazarika started his deliberation on the topic 'Energy Management and Accounting' by initially focusing on the energy scenario of the country. He brilliantly summarized the classification of the source of the energy. At the same time, he stressed the need to use energy efficiently, thereby reducing energy consumption.
Addressing the student community, Professor Hazarika brought in his expertise to create an awareness regarding the judicious use of energy in relation to the environment. He narrated the Energy Conservation Act of 2001 and succinctly the articles contained. He also suggested how the entire north-eastern region was lagging behind in terms of energy e-filing to the Ministry of Power.
