Swasthya Sewa Utsav (SSU) begins in Halflong, Tinsukia

HAFLONG: To assess the infrastructure of government health facilities and to bridge the gaps so that these health facilities can be upgraded. In all the district hospitals, sub-divisional civil hospitals, Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Swasthya Sewa Utsav (SSU) began in Dima Hasao from Thursday.

A team of external evaluators for Swasthya Sewa Utsav led by Anusua Dutta Barua, Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Government of Assam, assessed the Haflong Civil Hospital on Friday.

Talking to media, Dutta Barua said this Swasthya Sewa Utsav exercise was not to find any faults or irregularities, rather to help the government improve the health sector of the State.

TINSUKIA: Along with rest of Assam, Swasthya Seva Utsav was launched in Tinsukia in a centralized programme at Tinsukia Civil Hospital on Thursday. The programme was also simultaneously launched at Mohkhuli Model Hospital and Sadiya FRU Chapakhowa. The inaugural programme at Tinsukia was ceremoniously launched by Swapneel Paul, Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, by lighting a lamp and was accompanied by Manjit Borkakoty ADC (Health), Dr Jayanta Bhattacharjee, I/C Joint DHS Tinsukia, Dr Mridul Gogoi, Superintendent TSK Civil Hospital, and other senior officials from district and hospital staff.

In his inaugural speech, the Deputy Commissioner elaborated about the programme and said that in Tinsukia district, a total to 32 health facilities would be assessed under Swasthya Sewa Utsav by a team of two external assessors deputed from AMCH and district administration and one external evaluator from the State HQ.

The team of external assessors will comprise one doctor from AMCH and one officer from the district administration. A state team consisting of Nilim Borah, consultant Planning, NHM Assam and two officials from development partner organizations of Guwahati also attended the inaugural programme, while the programmes at Mohkhuli and Sadiya were represented by Dr Bornali Borah, SDM&HO (Hq) Tinsukia.
