Symposium on importance of studying books held at Rangsali Adivasi High School of Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: A symposium on reading books along with a career counseling programme was held at Rangsali Adivasi High School of Lakhimpur district on Thursday in view of attracting the upcoming generations towards the universal appeal of the books and making them conscious in selecting their future career.

The school organized the programmes in association with Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra, an institution of Lakhimpur, dedicatedly working for the betterment in health, education and other humanitarian fields. The programme began with the celebration of the 96th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika.

The symposium and the career counseling programme were chaired by Narayan Baruah, the retired professor of LTK College. Headmaster of the school, Babul Pathak delivered the welcome speech in addition to explaining the objective of the programmes. Retired District Elementary Education Officer of Lakhimpur, Jiban Chandra Dutta and Ambedkar Fellowship Award recipient writer Prasanta Kumar Nath took part in the programmes as resource persons. Director of Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra, writer-poet Jiten Baruah also delivered a lecture in the event by throwing light upon the importance of reading books. Student Subal Bhadra and several teachers of the school spoke on the occasion giving feedback and appreciating the fruitfulness of the programmes. In the same event, headmaster Babul Pathak released the 9th year's fourth issue of the monthly magazine Mangalamoy Patrika, regularly published from Lakhimpur.
