Tabu Taid cremated with State honour at Gogamukh in Dhemaji district

LAKHIMPUR: The pearl of Subansiri River valley, internationally acclaimed educationist, linguist, eminent author, an efficient administrator and former chairman of SEBA, Taburam Taid was cremated at Gogamukh in Dhemaji district with State honour on Sunday.

The body of the colossal personality of the State was brought by a special helicopter to his native village Ayengiya under Gunasuti area, an economically challenged and geographically remote village in Subansiri river valley in Lakhimpur district. There his relatives, fans and followers and the people of the area paid floral tribute to him. Then his body was taken in the helicopter to Rajiv Gandhi field located at Mohori Camp of Gogamukh of Dhemaji and then brought to Abutani Lotta in a rally.

Profound reverence was paid to him there with State honour. Representing the State Government, Handloom and Textile Minister Ranjit Dutta paid him tribute while Deputy Commissioner of Dhemaji, Manabendra Singh did the same on behalf of the district administration. Dhemaji MLA Ranjit Dutta, Dr. Ranoj Kumar Pegu, Jonai MLA Bhuban Pegu, Dibrugarh MLA Prashanta Phukan, Chabua MLA Rituparna Roy, Mising Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Paramananda Chayengiya and its members and employees, representatives of Mising Bane Kebang, Takam Mising Porin Kebang, Mising Mimag Kebang, Takam Mising Mime Kebang, Sanmilita Gana Shakti, Mising Agom Kebang, Mising Dirbi Kebang, Lakhimpur district and Dhemaji district units of All Assam Students’ Union and a large number of people paid him tribute.

Notably, the Mising community organizations paid him homage by changing the name of Abutani Lotta to Tabu Taid Lotta after holding a crucial discussion. Minister Ranjit Dutta declared to construct a tomb in his memory at his cremation spot. He was cremated as per the tradition of the Mising community by his son Milen Taid.
