LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district unit of Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad (TAYPA) on Thursday submitted memorandum to the Lakhimpur Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) demanding to stop illegal mahals in the district.

In the memorandum it was stated that the Lakhimpur unit of TAYPA had strongly opposed the illegal dredging of the river resources. The organization further alleged that a section of officers and employees under the Divisional Forest Office were involved in the illegal dredging of the river resources. By submitting the same memorandum, the organization demanded the DFO to suspend these officers and employees and to fulfil'l some other demands in connection with the issue.
